What Is Pastured Poultry?

Pastured poultry is raised the old fashioned way - on fresh, green pasture and wholesome grain. This model allows the birds to receive a significant amount of pasture forage as feed and allows the birds to be raised in a clean, healthy environment.

Since processing is often done on the farm, many customers pick up their freezer-ready birds at the farm, assuring them a truly farm-fresh product and revitalizing the farmer-consumer relationship.

Factory-farm poultry is significantly different than pastured poultry.  Raised in confined chicken coops, factory-farm chickens never see sunlight and do not receive their nutrients from grass.  As a matter of fact, until the 1950's, all poultry was raised outdoors.  To learn more, see the posts on the Home Page.
